Moon in the 12 houses

The Moons position in the birth shows your unconscious emotional reactions to situations based on your early experiences and family training. The Moon represents the female principle: mother, wife, women, instincts, moods, tides, phases, receptivity, fluctuations, feelings habit patterns, reflex actions. It governs personal interest, desires, needs, magnetism, growth, fertility, the need to touch, impressionability and consciousness. Rules liquids, commodities, sailing, brewing, nursing, trades people, and the public.

The House that the Moon occupies will show where you are subject to emotional ups and downs. The area of the life that the Moon affects experiences lots of ups and downs due to Moon’s fast motion. We must learn to identify with what that house represents and attach ourselves emotionally to it, as it is likely to provide us inner fulfillment and a sense of belongingness.

Moon in the 1st house (Cancer Rising): Those with their Moon in the 1st house, moods will dominate their life - from actions, choices, the way they approach situations, their physical appearance, down to the partners that they choose. Their emotions move them & direct them. They have frequent mood changes, lots of ups and downs, they can go from happy to grouchy real quick. Some days they look in the mirror & love what they see, the next day they may feel the total opposite. They also wear their moods on their face for the world to see, even if they aren't aware of it.

Moon in 2nd house: Those with their Moon in the 2nd house need certain material items surrounding them in order to feel safe/secure. They prefer to be surrounded by things that make them feel comfortable such as music, video games, books, etc. They also feel secure when they know they have enough of whatever it is that they need such as money & food. Their emotional well-being is depended on how secure they are currently feeling in life. If they lost their job, or source of income they will be stressed out and will unintentionally take it out on those closest to them.

Moon in the 3rd house: Those with their Moon in the 3rd house are very sensitive to their immediate environment and the words that people say. They are experts at picking up on the emotional undertones when conversing with others. They always remember how certain words spoken by people made them feel (whether good or bad). They will always remember those words too! For those who were kind to them, they will go out of their way to say kind words back about them. They are very good at lifting peoples spirits with their words & delivering harsh truths that they feel others need to hear for their own good . They are also good at articulating words in ways that they think the person on the receiving end will better understand.

Moon in 4th house: Those with their Moon in the 4th house long to connect with people who make them feel welcomed or accepted, or they may very well be the one who makes others feel welcomed with open arms. This placement makes them very nurturing old souls. Whether for better or worse, fourth house moons have deep relationships with their parents, but its the relationship with their mother that is deepest. Separating from their mothers to create their own home is always done carefully, always thinking about their mothers feelings. They usually spend a lot of time with their mothers growing up and are often home giving their mothers constant emotional support.

Moon in 5th house: Those with their Moon in the 5th house are naturally creative without even trying. This house represents anything to do with creativity such as art, music, home decorating, fashion, dating, etc. Whatever it is that they decide to create will show who they are at their core. Their artistic talents show who they are at their core, the real raw emotions will show in their work (They shine through their creations). If they are more of a music person, certain songs may get them going and make them feel emotionally secure. Many people with a 5th house moon are able to express themselves genuinely, which leaves them feeling satisfied.

Moon in 6th house: Those with their Moon in the 6th house are very particular about their daily routine, health, and being of service. If they are feeling un-organized, this will effect their moods negatively. They feel most secure when they are organized and when they can be helpful to others. They easily become stressed when they're feeling overwhelmed with with things that they need to get done. They can become fearful when they question their own potential. They want to be treated equally and they expect their loved ones to always be there for them, likewise they are happy to do laundry, clean and cook, as long as the balance is there.

Moon in 7th house: Those with their Moon in the 7th house are highly adaptable and supportive individuals who are excellent at picking up the moods of others & knowing just what to say, or what the other person may need at that moment. They can also be greatly responsive & reactive to what others need, especially their partner. They weigh out the energies of others so they can feel secure. They are very caring & nurturing individuals, however, they can sometimes adjust their own values/emotions just to make others feel more comfortable. They need relationships with other people in order to feel comfortable in their own lives, even if the interactions are negative, they still serve their need to move through their life within the vehicle of a relationship with another person.

Moon in 8th house: Those with their Moon in the 8th house are deep & highly intuitive individuals. They are good at keeping any emotional issues/problems they may have, very much to themselves (hidden & private). They rarely share how they are truly feeling in fear of being rejected or being viewed as "vulnerable". Opening up and being vulnerable is a scary feeling for them. They'd rather suffer in silence than be seen as weak & have things thrown in their face later on down the road. On the flip side, They can be very good listeners & can help others get through the darkest moments of their lives, because they understand "stormy weather" on a deeper intuitive level than most others.

Moon in 9th house: Those with their Moon in the 9th house have a strong tie between their emotions & their beliefs. They react emotionally to others who either support or disagree with their beliefs. If they are religious at all, when they are feeling emotional they may cope with feelings according to what their religion says they should do. They are very protective about their beliefs. If they feel attacked by someone who challenges their beliefs, they will react strongly either verbally, physically, or held within, in order to protect & defend their beliefs. They may have been taught at a early age about these certain beliefs that stuck with them until adulthood, or they may very well discard old family traditions & make new ones of their own.

Moon in 10th house: Those with their Moon in the 10th house cling to their reputation & their public image. Their moods and emotions are wrapped up in their achievements and accomplishments. To be recognized and respected for the things they have accomplished will have a very big impact on them. When they are feeling good about what they've accomplished they will feel emotionally secure & satisfied. When they don't feel recognized, they will feel extremely insecure & become emotionally unstable (even if they are good at holding it all inside). They can even come to the point of being overbearing just to try and make people recognize or respect them.

Moon in 11th house: Those with their Moon in the 11th house seek a sense of belonging from the groups and networks that they join. They long to connect with people who make them feel welcomed. They are very sensitive to how they are treated within these groups of people. They are able to lead people and enact social change by gaining trusting supporters. They also expect society to support them. The moon's caring nature has an equal but opposite need to be cared for in return. Depending on signs and aspects, they may have an expectancy of acceptance which gives them a natural advantage and confidence. The give and take involved in social networking is comfortable terrain for eleventh-house moons. They can easily inspire and comfort groups.

Moon in 12th house: Those with their Moon in the 12th house needs plenty of alone time to feel emotionally secure. They are like sponges, absorbing all the emotions from the people around them. Which makes them feel confused & out of sync with how they are truly feeling inside. This can cause them to shift their own real emotions in order to merge with those around them, or to cater to others needs as a form of empathy & understanding. This is why they need time away from people in order to keep their emotions in check. Those with this placement were denied the comfort & nurturing childhood that most of us assume is a normal part of childhood. Their mother may have been preoccupied, distant or absent, which made them feel un-cared for.
